Rite-Aid, Sunday 10/17/10
I went shopping with my friend Lailani today. She spent the last week trying to learn how to coupon on her own by reading some of the online blogs and I thought it would be fun to take her on a shop at Rite-Aid to inspire her. We did six separate transactions and it was a fun shop because we spent very little out of pocket and we scored some killer FREE make-up and some more Halloween candy. I hope you have fun in the stores this week!
Ok, here's the shop:

NOTE: I will receive $10.47 in Rite-Aid SCR Rebates for the Thermacare, Bee M.D. Cough Drops, and the Children's Oscillococcinum. I have 38.84 in UP Rewards left to roll into my transactions for next week.
NOTE: I gave one of the Dove chocolates and one of the TRESemme shampoos to the two cashiers that helped us today. We had six transactions and they were real troopers! It is always a good idea to share some of your shop with the cashiers. I do this for two reasons. I want them to realize that I am not hoarding all of my groceries/personal items; it helps for them to know that you are sharing what you are receiving. Secondly, I like to form relationships with my cashiers. I am going to be seeing the same people from week to week and I want to have a friendly interaction with them. The relationships that you form with your cashiers are crucial to your success as a couponer. If the cashiers know you then they will be more patient with you and they are more likely to work with you if you have made a mistake in your transaction. They will generally be more helpful towards you if they know you. Practice the golden rule.
NOTE: I just realized that the $2/1 Rite Aid VV Q for the Maybelline was only supposed to be used on the Trio eye shadow. I used it on the Quad shadow. Whoops! To the newbies: this will happen to you sometimes. You won't realize that the coupon is for a very specific product (I thought the coupon was good for any Eye Studio product). The $4 UP Reward did not print for this deal so I called Rite-Aid's customer service and they are sending me the $4 UP Reward in the mail. The Maybelline $4 UP Reward was not in the ad. It was an email advertised special!

Please , I was looking for a rite aid today in Orlando and could not find one .My hubby and I drove down Central Florida Parkway 5 times and we never saw it. Are they really out there because we looked both around and on the map and ...nothing!
Anon, there aren't any Rite-Aid Drugstores in Orlando.
Man! I totally forgot about the Cottonelle VV coupon! Oh well, why am I complaining..free is free, right? :-)
Hey Party of 5. Free is definitely free and Rite-Aid is awesome this week.
I love that your "needed items" include candy. I mean, seriously, what women doesn't need some Dove chocolate?!
Kathy, LOL. I wish I could say that the Dove Chocolate was for me. Alas, it is Halloween candy.
As always, great shop. I totally agree with what you said about building relationships. I went into my Rite-Aid the other week and one of the managers said I was one of her favorite customers because I always make her smile and I give her candy. That really made my day!!!
Thrifty T - free candy makes everyone smile (including me). :)
Can you use more than one rite aid value video coupon per item? Like if you buy 2 items, can you use 2 value video coupons? I thought you could only use one. Or are you breaking it up and doing 2 transactions?
